Napredak, the footbal club was established in December 1946 in Krusevac, through the merger of three local clubs Badza, Zakic and 14. Oktobar. The first official match was played of the following year in, 1947. Participation in the First Federal League was secured in 1949 after which the club was relegated from the elite competition and spent more that two decades mostly competing in Second Federal League. It was in 1976 when Napredak returned to the highest rank of competition by defeating Rad with a score of 8:2. During the 1979/80 season, the club achieved the greatest success in its history under the leadership of coach Toma Kaloperovic – finishing 4th in the national championship and qualifying for the UEFA Cup.
Throughout the 1990s, Napredak was in between the First and Second Leagues. After that period, the club achieved another historic success. In the 1999/2000 season, Napredak reached the final of the FR Yugoslavia Cup and secured another appearance in the UEFA Cup. From 2007 Napredak again participates in Serbian Superliga and at the end of the 2007/08 season, the club finished in 5th place, and the team from Krusevac maintained its SuperLiga status until 2010, when it was relegated to the lower tier – the Serbian First League. The club returned to the highest rank of competition after the 2012/13 season and spent the following two seasons among the country’s best teams. After the 2014/15 season, the club was relegated again, but this time only briefly, as fight back to the Serbian SuperLiga in the very next season, 2015/16.
